New Remixes from The Chimney Climbers & Dskotek

I’m loving this new remix from The Chimney Climbers. This time, they lend a helping hand to Rich Girls by The Virgins. Part hair metal guitar riffs, part brooding bass, the remix is all good. The ominous synths, combined with the ubiquitous DJ air horn and the infectious vocal sampling used during the hook creates a feeling of anticipation as you wait for the bass to blast you from somewhere. Yet it never comes, and you’re stuck sitting there with no other recourse but to listen to the track again, for your 16th time in a row.

LA-based DJ/producer Dskotek is back on this Discotech with two new remixes. His first one is something you don’t see everyday, a producer remixing a Bloody Beetroots original. Dskotek steps up to take on Rombo, the Beetroots’ high energy, synth-filled, Lil’ Jon-sampling attempt to blow out your speakers. Dskotek’s version is less about blowing out speakers and more about making dancefloors shake with intense buildups and a heavy strobe effect.

Dskotek then puts his stamp on the new Britney Spears single, Womanizer. I don’t know how or why, but Ms. Spears has somehow recorded the most remixed track of the moment. PMA does a pretty good job of rounding up a sampling of the best remixes of Womanizer so far. I’m not a big fan of the original so I can’t recommend or trash this or any of the other remixes. I can say this remix has a distinct Dsktotek sound to it. His production aesthetic shines through and if I learned anything from watching 5 seasons of Project Runway (aside from what silk chiffon is) it is that the key to being a great artist is having an original design aesthetic.

Bitch (The Chimney Climbers Remix)

Oh shiznit! Can someone explain to me how the hell we got The Chimney Climbers, makers of the fine Bitch remix posted below, to play in Houston on Friday night? I don't know, but somebody cue Movin On Up from the Jefferson's intro. Now if only we could have got a Steed Lord to make a stop in Houston during their US tour I'd play the intro from Sanford & Son which makes no sense in the context of this metaphor but is just a damn good song. Anyway get the Bitch remix by the Chimney Climbers below, its Bangers & Cash, you know you want it. And be at Boondocks this Friday to see these dudes in action.
