New Rock Remixes

London based rockers, Burning Pilot, have a new record due out soon called Cold Caller and they’ve commissioned James Rutledge to remix their first single, Accelerate. Mr. Rutledge transforms Accelerate into a 1980s new wave track you listen to while you apply that second coat of black eyeliner. If you’re not into the "Robert Smith" look (liar!) and still can’t imagine what this might sound like, I would say it’s like a 2008 version of New Order or The Cure. Crisper, louder, more bass, all the good stuff from 2008. Ohh, now you wanna download it, pick it from iTunes here.

Yesterday, I professed my love for the new Chimney Climbers remix of Rich Girls by The Virgins. Well, after further research that included listening to The Beatards remix and The Twelves remix, I’ve concluded that Rich Girls is just a damn good song. I know yall will download The Twelves remix but don't sleep on The Beatards version. It's especially funky and bass guitar heavy. Pick up both remixes below.

Friday Mix Up 5

First up we have the Computer Fairyland Mixtape from Little Boots. I, along with the rest of the blogosphere, received the email on Wednesday, so I'm pretty sure yall already have the mixtape. What you don't have is Little Boots' American release debut, the Arecibo EP. Arecibo drops mid-Novemeber through IAMSOUND Records in vinyl and through iTunes. Check the IAMSOUND website to get a specific date and make sure you purchase the EP to add to your Little Boots shrine you have undoubtedly begun building in your closet.

Computer Fairyland Mixtape

The Polish DJ collective known as Hungry Hungry Models sent me their interestingly titled mixtape, Chopin Was A Pussy Slayer, a couple days ago. I looked into this Chopin character and learned, among other things, that he was Polish, which explains why they chose this particular composer from the Romantic period, and I also learned that he died when he was 39. That's when I realized this mixtape is supposed to promote the practice of safe sex amongst us youngsters. See kids, you can't just go around "slayin pussy" because one of these days, that pussy is gonna burn you. Burn you to death. If it could happen to Chopin, it can happen to anyone. Damnit! No one told me that The Twelves also sing. I had to find out just like everyone else (on Discodust a few days ago), even after I did that Masters of the Remix post about them like 10 years ago. I was hurt by The Twelves, but the pain didn't last for long cause these songs rock. I'm pronouncing The Twelves as 2008's Digitalism, so Twelves can yall release a full length album by the end of this year so I don't look more like an asshole. Twelves: Masters of the Remix

Yes, another post about the Brazilian duo, The Twelves. I know I’ve already posted two remixes and one 30-minute mix by the Twelves in under a month and you’re probably thinking this is becoming redundant, but they keep releasing cool remixes. The only other groups that matches their remix output are MSTRKRFT or the LA Riots. But instead of taking an indie pop song and transforming it into a dancefloor banger (I’m looking at you MSTRKRFT), Twelves remixes always seem to fit the context of the original song. There is nothing wrong with a dancefloor banger (I love ‘em), but like an Almond Joy, “Sometimes you feel like a nut, and sometimes you don’t.” So I’ll do one last Twelves mega post and I’m through. . . . . . until they release another remix.

Posting Music Again

First off, the Risky Bizniss party was fucking incredible on Saturday night. I didn't leave the warehouse unitl 5:30 in the morning and there was still a sizable crowd inside. Back when people were going to raves in the US, I was like 12 or 13, so I don't know what they are like apart from depictions in movies. But I would have to say that the Risky Bizniss party felt as close to a rave as any party I've ever attended. Watch out for the Manifesto Party at the same spot March 22. Mark your calenders.

You can tell by the tracklisting that the Twelves have put together one cool laid back mix. Its good soundtrack for all those groovy sexy times. Ladies, you know what I mean.
