New Maroon 5 Remixes
I admit to being a closeted Maroon 5 fan. Well a closeted It Won’t Be Soon Before Long fan, I will admit Songs About Jane was a baseball-sized wad of bubble gum pop. But I find it hard to believe that one, without prior knowledge (and preconceived disgust) of Maroon 5, could not fall in love with the electro-funk-R&B amalgamation Mr. Levine and his band present on their sophomore album. The funk presented on Makes Me Wonder will not be denied. You will snap your fingers. You will sing. You will pop your neck side to side a la MJ during his Bad era. And don’t get me started on the exuberant synths and funky guitar riff of If I Never See Your Face Again. Actually you won’t have to get me started cause that’s all I got on that particular song. I am not an actual music critic.
But anyway, back to the subject at hand. You’re probably flipping through your calendar to check today’s date because you swear it is 2008 and not 2007 and since it is 2008 you’re probably wondering why the hell has this kid wasted 158 words on a year old album. Well, wiseacre, I’m trying to tell you about Call and Response: The Remix Album. Yeah, the one with blog favorites Cut Copy and Cool Kids on it. And the one with the cool video directed by Eric Wareheim of Tim & Eric fame. Yeah. Not so smug now smart aleck. You might call me crazy, but the Swizz Beatz remix in the video above is my favorite remix of the three.
Also, the Black guy in the thick framed glasses and large gold rope chain is your father.

Cut Copy - Far Away (The Golden Filter Remix)
New discocentric Far Away remix from The Golden Filter.
Here Comes A New Challenger!
Oh shit! It’s a funk battle. Who is more disco?! The Golden Filter remix or the Hercules & Love Affair remix? I don’t know which song will win this disco remix battle but no matter which artist wins you know who really wins? That’s right Denzel Washington. Wait a minute, I mean, we all win.

Cut Copy - Far Away (ddpesh Remix)
ddpesh sent me a remix he did for Cut Copy that has a really good 8-bit/synth sound that I can't get enough of. I am definitely looking forward to squeezing this track in my next set in between Crystal Castles and LAZRtag.

Dizzee Rascal Pussyhole Remixes
Three posts in quick succession was definitely not the way to go,I should have mashed this and the previous two posts all into one big post. Guess I was felt a little sparky or something when I started this an hour ago.
When I began my journey five hours ago, I thought Schlachthofbronx, the ghettotech/bass group from Germany, sent me a re-edit they did of the Radioclit remix of Dizzee Rascal's 2007 track Pussyhole. Since SSDT strives to meet the highest journalistic standards and practices, I had to get a concrete answer as to who was behind this remix. So after an extensive seven minute search to find the true remixers of Pussyhole (I'm typing "Pussyhole" at least three more times), I couldn't even find the alleged Radioclit Pussyhole remix.

So what I'm gonna do is post this track with a big thanks to Schlachthofbronx for sending me this fire and I'll give the remix credit to Radioclit. No worries the internet is good for clearing up these kind of misstakes, you see how quickly it dismantled all those Justice fakes.

* Update: I told yall the internet always works these mistakes out, even the ones that it helps create. Jakob from Schlachthofbronx just sent me an email stating that the above Pussyhole remix I previously credited to Radioclit is actually a Schlachthofbronx remix that uses a sample from the Radioclit remix of Cobrastyle. I think the remix on top of another remix was too much for my mind to handle. Anyway, sorry for the mistake Schlachthofbronx, you guys rock.

Mega "I Don't Have Class Today!!" Post
I was all set to start my Corporate Finance class today which was to run from 6pm to 10pm every Monday and Wednesday. I had already accepted the fact that I probably wasn't gonna be able to download new music or do a post this afternoon, or so I thought until I rushed to campus after work only to find the damn class is actually on Tuesday-Thursday. This isn't too bad though, I'm gonna treat this like an extra day and post tracks I should have posted over the long July 4th weekend. Since I'm posting 5 tracks, the description will be sparse.
The kings of Australia (Cut Copy) have bestowed upon the internets a remix of a track from one of the dukes of Australia (Midnight Juggernauts). I don't know how much sense that last sentence made since America was never a monarchy, but you really shouldn't need much convincing to download anything with Cut Copy's name attached to it.
Midnight Juggernauts - Dystopia (Cut Copy Remix) [YSI]
Hot electro-charged B-more track from Don Diasco.

New Bloc Party track Mercury. This is only a web rip but it's the best you'll be able to find for now. That's the new video above.
* Quality bumped to 192 thanks to PMA.

I was already infatuated with the original Electric Feel remix by Justice and then here comes ddpesh with some Biggie and now I'm in love.
ddpesh - Nasty Feel (MGMT x Justice x Biggie Smalls) [YSI]
And finally SSDT favorite Top Billin' is giving away a free Summer Jamz pack so I thought I throw up an old favorite included in the pack. 320kbps so sweet!!

Anchors Away!!!!
Despite what the “experts” predicted, I survived my harrowing wisdom teeth removal procedure yesterday, however my face wasn’t as lucky. I look like Kanye West in his Through The Wire video. I won’t be picking up any girls until this swelling goes down cause no matter how great your sense of humor is chicks just don’t dig the Elephant Man.
Alright, I admit I don't look nearly as bad as these two guys. FREAKS!!!!!
Besides suffering from unwarranted body image issues the past two days, I realized I need to start using anchors on my post. My definition of an anchor is that track that comes along every 2 or 3 days that every blog with a functioning internet connection posts within seconds of discovery. Today, it’s the new Clipse track, a couple of days ago it was the new Diplo remix, a few days before that it was the Pharrell/Santogold/that guy from The Strokes song…..you get the idea. Well, since the blog business is about exposure for the artists and the bloggers themselves, I’ve decided to include an anchor on each of my posts for that extra hypem/elbo.ws traffic. This will satisfy both the objectives of the mp3 blog. Today’s anchor will be the aforementioned Clipse track, Fast Life.
Clipse - Fast Life [YSI]
I had to go through all the hard work that signing in to my email entails to discover these two cool tracks from Polygon Palace. The first track is a nice remix of Hearts On Fire by Cut Copy. I think HOF remixes are impossible to mess up, the original track is just too solid. Not sure what the Unterhaag means, but their second track Disko Unterhaag is cool Calvin Harris-esque electrofunk. Pick up the tracks below and go visit their space to listen to more goodness.

I’m gonna apologize now to Culture Of Me cause I’m stealing this track. While I post a lot of electro bangers and b-more club music, I still think you can’t beat a solid remix of an electronic dance rock track. I guess since they use real drums, guitars, keytars and such, it sounds more real. Or I could be completely wrong, maybe instruments will go the way of the vinyl in the next 5 years. Who knows? I know I love this Sta remix of These Electric Lives though. Enjoy.
The Electric Lives - We Should Be Believing (Sta Remix) [YSI]
Unrelated question: While downloading a track off zshare, I saw a banner ad for a “free” ringtone download of the Katy Perry single I Kissed A Girl. This especially caught my attention since I posted this track not too long ago. My question is when did Katy Perry become mainstream pop with the same name recognition as Chris Brown or T-Pain? This is not good for the blog rep at all.

Hearts On Fire Remixed
I just downloaded this new Hearts on Fire remix by Holy Ghost! today. In standard DFA fashion, Holy Ghost took a five minute song and stretched it into an eight minute exercise in tight basslines and sharp percussions. Truthfully, I don't even know if the last 3 minutes are part of the original Hearts On Fire. My advice, don't worry about it, just go along for the ride.
British master of electro-funk, Calvin Harris, remixed Hearts On Fire also; I think the track was released last week. I had to listen to it about 5 times before I conceded to its greatness. This may seem bias and that's because it is, in my mind Calvin Harris can do no wrong. Any Calvin Harris fans (better be all of you) will fell right at home with this remix.
Plus I'm posting the original because I'm still not fully convinced either remix is better than the original. Cut Copy ftw.
