Database ft. Bonde Do Role - Miami

Fresh off the release of their Ugly Edits EP last month, Database is back teaming up with their Brazilian countrymen to make groovy music for the rest of the world to dance to. On their new track Miami, Database and Bonde Do Role create a dance track that perfectly captures the essence of Miami. I know this because I've seen this show.

Ludachrist - Legend of Curtis EP

Ludachrist delivers upon us what they call their newest Chapter in the holy testament or what you and I may call The Legend of Curtis EP. Here is what Ludachrist had to say about their newest EP:

Long, Long time ago the land of South Jamaica was in an age of chaos.
In the midst of this chaos, in a little neighborhood in the land of Queens, a legend was born. His name was Curtis.

Ludachrist proudly presents a 3 part fantasy street tale of great treasures, beautiful princesses, weapons of great power, and heart pounding adventures. Join us on a magical journey into the world of illusion, where imagination runs wild and the unlikely hero rises the ranks to become the ruler of his kingdom. Experience the challenge of endless adventure!

Now I know some of you may be thinking, "I like Legend of Zelda, not sure how much I like the music from Legend of Zelda though. And I can tolerate 50 Cent in small doses. But both Link and 50 Cent, together, over three tracks? I don't know Ludachrist." To all you neighsayers, I assure you that Legend of Curtis is not simply 3 tracks of 50 Cent flowing over a midi track from 20 years ago. That's only one track and its actually pretty badass. The track How Does It Feel brings together Hustler by Rick Ross and Blue Monday by New Order, while Soul On Ice unites Young Jeezy's Soul Survivor with Cold As Ice by Foreigner.

Each track is righteous and I wouldn't expect anything less from a group that takes its name from the great Ludacris and that Christ fellow everyone is always talking about.

Dskotek on Discotech

Come with me if you want to dance.

You don’t have to share the same name as the blog to get featured on SSDT, but it sure helps. It also helps if you make badass music, so it was nothing short of destiny that LA based DJ/producer Dskotek be featured on this blog. The original track and both the remixes he sent me are awesome, plus he shares the same name as the blog (even though he spells discotech horribly wrong*). Check out Dskotek below.

M.I.A – Paper Planes (Dskotek Remix) [YSI]
Dskotek – Sinfonia [YSI]
Mockin’ Bird – Hissi (Dskotek Remix) [YSI]

*Acceptable spellings include discoteca, discotheque, discotech and now Dskotek

I already told you it has Santogold and Treasure Fingers so I don't really know what else to say to make you wanna listen to this track. If it helps to assuage any doubts you may still have, I assure you the song super funky fresh.

Whether assailing other commenters, calling tween popstars cokeheads or discussing Oprah's feminine hygiene regimen, C. Moore Balzac always keeps it gangsta bitches. So when he recently asked for more Santogold remixes, I could not think of any better way to reward a loyal, slightly crazy reader. Below, are various Santogold remixes. Some newer than others, some better than others. I'd have to say the David Rubato remix is my favorite of the bunch.
