New Ish From Hatchmatik, Le Castle Vania, and Kissy Sell Out

First up is the remix of Adam Kesher's Local Girl by Hatchmatik. After hearing his Club Aria remix, and his remixes for Thunderheist, Chromeo and MTO, I thought I had his style figured out. Hyphy, hyphy, hyphy is what his myspace page says and that about sums the style. It's not Bay Area hyphy necessarily but the energy and intensity is there, it still makes you wanna go dumb while ghost ridin the whip. As I said earlier, I thought I had his style figured out, that is until I heard his Local Girl remix. In it, Hatchmatik lets the synth melodies and Adam Kesher's vocals take front seat in the track but keeps the vocals not to far behind. The sound was not what I was expecting when I first downloaded the track but it was definitely a pleasant surprise. Versatility in production styles is always a good thing.

Adam Kesher - Local Girl (Hatchmatik Remix) [YSI]

Because I always make claims of not posting the tracks all the other blogs are posting, I wasn't gonna post the new Le Castle Vania remix of Through A Keyhole by Walter Meego I received yesterday. That resistance didn't last long though. As any blog reader knows, Le Castle Vania remixes are always top notch. The man knows how to get any song ready for the dancefloor. In Through A Keyhole, he adds some hard drum kicks, voice distortion and synth melodies flipping a rather humdrum song on its head. Le Castle Vania knows what the kids want and he gives it to them with every remix.

Walter Meego - Through A Keyhole (Le Castle Vania Remix) direct download [zshare]

Since I was neither in my twenties or white during the 1990s, I have never heard of R.E.M. but I downloaded Kissy Sell Out's Bmore remix of Nightswimming anyway. Why you ask. Kissy Sell Out and bmore. The Kissy Sell Out remixes of Merrymaking at My Place and Fancy Footwork are badass, so I knew they would make Nightswimming better. And did I mention it was bmore, bmore is always ftw in my book. However, bmore can become repetitive after a while if the production is too sparse but that isn't a problem with this remix. Kissy Sell Out found the perfect mix between the standard bmore beat loop we all know and love and the pianos, violins and whatever other instruments (people still use those?) R.E.M. used to make Nightswimming.

Another Cool Feeling (Maethelvin Remix)

The Outrunners and Maethelvin are both from France, and united with Valerie Records in the vision of a new sound and a synthetic universe. Their world is narrowed down to a "dark Miami" type of stuff, which is full of discoballs, cops with sunglasses (at night), heavy spaceships landing on piers and drugs that teach you the language of the stars.

Valerie Records is producing some really good music. You should definitely check out ALL of the artist on the label. (The Outrunners, College, Anoraak, Minitel Rose, Maethelvin and more)

The Presets - Talk Like That (Jence Remix)

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference

Taken from The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost

Whenever we post a track here on SSDT, Jay Nasty and I always try to keep the above passage in mind. This is partly due to the fact that we are literary geniuses and partly due to the fact that posting every new Crookers track (no matter how dope) can get a little repetitive after a while. Well, I'm going against Mr. Frost's advice by posting the Talk Like That remix by Jence (half of Digitalism). As I'm typing this, the zshare link has 1602 downloads, so I'm not expecting many of you to have never heard this track before. But if you haven't downloaded it yet, please download now, it's classic Digitalism from start to finish.

The Presets - Talk Like That (Jence Remix) [YSI]

Afghan Raiders - Solid Gold (Techjio Remix)

Take one look at his myspace page and Canadian producer Techjio will have you believing he is the personification of electro, listen to a few of his tracks and you'll be convinced. He just sent me his new remix of Solid Gold, a track by Las Vegas electro duo, Afghan Raiders. Solid Gold will be included on their Future Thinkers/Solid Gold EP due out in August, so stay tuned to both artists for more goodness. This Solid Gold remix is highly recommended for those with a fever, a fever that can only be cured with more cowbell.

New Music from Breakbot, Ursula 1000, Swizz Beatz

Quick post of some hot ass music that I've been bumping in my hot ass room. It is 95F in Houston right now and, since my roommates and I are trying to be as green (aka cheap) as possible by not turning on the A/C, it is about 102F in my room.

I've long been a fan of Breakbot's funk/soul take on French electro, so whenever he releases a new remix I try to post them as soon as possible. Get his newest remix of Lion by ZZZ below.

ZZZ - Lion (Breakbot Remix) [YSI]

* Removed upon record label request

That Yo Gabba Gabba remix I posted awhile back was pretty dope in my opinion, but not a song you could bump in your car with the windows down while coasting through da hood (my Wednesday 6:00PM to 8:00PM activity). Problem solved after downloading Sweaty Wet Cream by Ursula 1000, creator of the aformentioned YGG remix. Pick it below for your weekly trips through da hood.

This song is just good, who cares if Swizz Beatz can't rap, this is a badass Viva La Vida remix. Plus everytime you listen to the track, Oprah gives away another car.

Tally Isham

Tally Isham is the virtual popstar of your dreams. She grew up and studied astrophysics in Scotland, moving to Houston Texas to work at NASA Johnson Space Center in the early 80's. She enjoyed deep sea diving and motorcycle racing before a fatal explosion at the center in 1983. Her image was reborn in the sea of information and she continues to accumulate and augment digital information for your satisfaction.

Tally Isham - Makeout Sesh [YSI]

B-Ju - Played Out! Mix

Just got my hands on the new Played Out! mix from current World Star DJ Euro Champ, DJ B-Ju. One look at the tracklisting and you can see where B-Ju came up with the name for this mix. Damn near every song is at least a year old and when you look up "played out" on urban dictionary, the number one definition is "MSTRKRFT's remix of the Justice single, D.A.N.C.E." That last part isn't true but you get the idea. Still a dope mix when you feel like sweating to the oldies.

Tracklist:

1. Siriusmo - Intro

Friday Mix Up 1

Hello all, this is the first installment of Friday Mix Up, my newest recurring post in which I post all the mixes that I receive throughout the week. I know this is my third recurring post idea and that none of the others made it past 2 posts but I assure you this one is here to stay. At least for 3 posts.

First up is Fidgetaboutit by Carmine P. Filthy. Carmine started sending SSDT emails about 3 weeks ago, so I wanna start off by thanking him for putting us on the mailing list. The title says it all about this mix. Fidget and wobbly bass is what you're gonna get when you download this mix. Fidgetaboutit gets bonus points since 70% of the songs on the tracklisting are completely new to me. Pick it up below.

Next up is In Fidget Mode by the nicest person that has ever emailed me, Rom1. He starts off his email by proclaiming to be a loyal reader (I'm not even a loyal reader of this blog), then he says he would appreciate it if I took some time to listen to his mix (like I'm busy or something), then he ends the email by saying he hopes to meet me whenever I stop by Paris. Okay, the last part may sound a little gaymo, but when do you ever get love like that from a stranger (that's not a prostitute)? Never. Pick up his awesome mix below and be sure to visit his blog, Blog For Music Lovers, now.

He threw 6 mixes at me last night in an evil attempt to blow out my eardrums and boil my brains with dope music. Lil Wayne - A Milli (Chewy Chocolate Cookies Remix)

Time for a little guessing game. What track is the number one choice by every producer, DJ, and toddler with a Playskool xylophone that wants to do a remix? Yep, it's Lil Wayne's A Milli. Now guess which SSDT-anointed Master of the Remix just made a new A Milli remix. Yep, it's Chewy Chocolate Cookies. Since I'm at work, I can't listen to the track for a couple more hours, but I'm posting it now because we all know its gonna be dope anyway. Plus I wanna be first on Hype Machine. Holla!

Dizzee Rascal Pussyhole Remixes

Three posts in quick succession was definitely not the way to go,I should have mashed this and the previous two posts all into one big post. Guess I was felt a little sparky or something when I started this an hour ago.

When I began my journey five hours ago, I thought Schlachthofbronx, the ghettotech/bass group from Germany, sent me a re-edit they did of the Radioclit remix of Dizzee Rascal's 2007 track Pussyhole. Since SSDT strives to meet the highest journalistic standards and practices, I had to get a concrete answer as to who was behind this remix. So after an extensive seven minute search to find the true remixers of Pussyhole (I'm typing "Pussyhole" at least three more times), I couldn't even find the alleged Radioclit Pussyhole remix.

So what I'm gonna do is post this track with a big thanks to Schlachthofbronx for sending me this fire and I'll give the remix credit to Radioclit. No worries the internet is good for clearing up these kind of misstakes, you see how quickly it dismantled all those Justice fakes.

Dizzee Rascal - Pussyhole (Schlachthofbronx Remix) [YSI]

Bonus Pussyhole action:

ABX - Strangerole (Windskool) (Dizzee Rascal x Cut Copy) [YSI]

* Update: I told yall the internet always works these mistakes out, even the ones that it helps create. Jakob from Schlachthofbronx just sent me an email stating that the above Pussyhole remix I previously credited to Radioclit is actually a Schlachthofbronx remix that uses a sample from the Radioclit remix of Cobrastyle. I think the remix on top of another remix was too much for my mind to handle. Anyway, sorry for the mistake Schlachthofbronx, you guys rock.

Bitch (The Chimney Climbers Remix)

Oh shiznit! Can someone explain to me how the hell we got The Chimney Climbers, makers of the fine Bitch remix posted below, to play in Houston on Friday night? I don't know, but somebody cue Movin On Up from the Jefferson's intro. Now if only we could have got a Steed Lord to make a stop in Houston during their US tour I'd play the intro from Sanford & Son which makes no sense in the context of this metaphor but is just a damn good song. Anyway get the Bitch remix by the Chimney Climbers below, its Bangers & Cash, you know you want it. And be at Boondocks this Friday to see these dudes in action.

Coin Operated Boy

I had never heard of Coin Operated Boy until I downloaded these two remixes today and, judging by the number of his myspace profile views (3457), neither have you. That won't last long though seeing how, by tomorrow, his Harder Better Faster Stronger and Disco Down remixes should be posted on numerous blogs across the internets (numerous blogs with good taste that is). He even admits in his email that Harder Better Faster Stronger has been remixed like a million times already. No problem though, in America it is an undeniable right that every man will get his turn to remix a Daft Punk track, and even though Coin Operated Boy lives in England where the American Constitution has no legal power, he definitely makes our forefathers look like geniuses for putting an otherwise useless right into the Constitution. Really, both remixes are dope, download now. And, could you stop by his myspace page so we can get his profile views up to a respectable level, the man deserves it.

Daft Punk - Harder Better Faster Stronger (Coin Operated Boy Remix) [YSI]
Pixel Kid - Disco Down (Coin Operated Boy Remix) [YSI]

BeanFlickers - B.E.P.

So yesterday, I get an email from the BeanFlickers, two producers/DJs from Australia who are beginning to test the blog waters with their remixes and such. This particular email contained a track called B.E.P. and a little mix they put together for June. I didn't know what B.E.P. stood for until I listened to the track and discovered that B.E.P. is a remix of a Black Eyed Peas song I've never heard before. I can already hear the swooshing sound of a thousand people closing their Internet Explorer window immediately after reading "Black Eyed Peas song". Hold on people, before you close this window in a Will.i.am/Fergie-induced disgust, let me assure you that the BeanFlickers did a righteous job making this track pulse and bang. Plus the Black Eyed Peas make some pretty dope pop/dance music anyway (yeah, I said it!). My Humps, Let's Get Retarded, Pump It, the right remixers could transform each of these songs into electro bangers. I think I just gave the BeanFlickers ideas for their next three remixes. B.E.P. and June mix below.

BeanFlickers - B.E.P. [YSI]

BeanFlickers JuneTunes Mix

Bumblebeez - Rio
Enur - Calabria
Count, Sinden, Kid Sister - Beeper

Crookers - Big Money Comin

Living Shred

I don't know much about Living Shred other than he lives in Houston (as you may or may not know Getback Skeeza and I are also from H-town). I stumbled across his page not too long ago on MySpace, and I was very impressed.

The best way I know how to describe his sound is for you to imagine SebastiAn, Kill the Noise, and Boys Noize collaborating together. All of his tracks are club bangers, but I thought I would post my personal two favorites. Enjoy!

Living Shred - The Strobes [YSI]

New Demos from The Twelves

Damnit! No one told me that The Twelves also sing. I had to find out just like everyone else (on Discodust a few days ago), even after I did that Masters of the Remix post about them like 10 years ago. I was hurt by The Twelves, but the pain didn't last for long cause these songs rock. I'm pronouncing The Twelves as 2008's Digitalism, so Twelves can yall release a full length album by the end of this year so I don't look more like an asshole. Below are the two new demos and two remixes that sound similar to the style of Works For Me and When You Talk.

The Twelves - Works For Me [YSI]
The Twelves - When You Talk [YSI]

Theatre of Disco - YOA (The Twelves Remix) [YSI]
Theives Like Us - Drugs In My Body (The Twelves Remix) [YSI]

DJ Nate Day

DJ Nate Day is a DJ torn between two cities. His myspace page location lists LA/Philly, which is nothing new, tons of people connect two cities together with a backslash or "vs." to gain a little scene synergy. But while most people only realize their dual-city living on myspace, DJ Nate Day is living it for real with his Going Back to Philly Tour, check out the flyer above for the deets. After killing shows out in LA, DJ Nate Day is taking it back to Philly, reverse Fresh Prince style.

While trolling around on low bee today I found some Nate Day remixes that spawned this post and here are two of my favorites. The first remix is a bmore/jukey take on the Daft Punk classic Crescendolls. The second track is a NY Excuse, Stress, Harder Better Faster Stronger, and Atlantic to Interzone amalgamation that's so crazy it just might work. Pick up both tracks below and catch DJ Nate Day in a city near you.

"I'm Not Dead / The Golden Filter is Cool!" Mega-Post

Whats up folks? Long time no post, I know. The past few days I've been on an undeserved blogging break otherwise known as laziness. Laziness plus experimenting with this new M-Audio Xponent I bought two weeks ago plus a lack of quality tracks until a few days ago. Now that I'm back, I'll start slow with some tracks that most of you already downloaded two/three days ago.

I'm grouping these first four tracks together because all the songs have big names attached to them that should at least garner a listen, if not an immediate download. Plus, you probably already got them from somewhere else.

Moulinex - Come On Closer [YSI]
Evil Nine - They Live [YSI]
Santogold - Starstruck (Diplo Remix) [YSI]
Surkin - Chrome Knight ft. Chromeo [YSI]

Solid Gold is a new track by The Golden Filter that has spread like Wal-Martaphenitisis across the blog world since their secretive emails were sent two days ago. With little band information, a sparse myspace page, and only one track to date, the hype this band has received in such a short time is a testament to the awesomeness of Solid Gold. Solid Gold kinda sounds like Glass Candy with deeper bass and less filtering. So, in other words, righteous.

Masters of the Remix: Chewy Chocolate Cookies

Sorry for the post drought recently, this 6pm to 10pm class is kicking my ass right now. Going straight from work to class is not as easy as I thought it would be when I registered for this class in April. That being said, there probably won't be anymore Tuesday/Thursday post until August 18th, the last day of class.

Anyway, about 2 weeks ago I said I was gonna do a Masters of the Remix post about Chewy Chocolate Cookies. I probably would have never gotten around to putting the post together if it wasn't for me getting their new Pedrophilia remix today. The new remix is righteous just like all their other remixes.

Busy P - Pedrophilia (Chewy Chocolate Cookies Remix) [YSI]
DJ Mehdi - Saharian Break (Chewy Chocolate Cookies Remix) [YSI]
Justice - Genesis (Chewy Chocolate Cookies Remix) [YSI]
Digitalism - Idealistic (Chewy Chocolate Cookies Remix) [YSI]
Feadz - Humanoid (Chewy Chocolate Cookies Remix) [YSI]

My track selection isn't the result of an Ed Banger bias, damn near 70% of their remixes are of tracks from Ed Banger artists. Go to their myspace to get a preview of their Body Crash remix, it sounds dope so far. I'm off to work on a mix I'm putting together. I might post it up here if it doesn't totally suck. Au revoir.

Meterhead Knows Good Hip-Hop

LA heat-makers, Meterhead, shot me (and every other blogger) their new 3 song EP earlier today. All the tracks feature blazing MCs over bumping bass and screaming synths. The Busta Rhymes track is seriously sick, check it out and the rest of the tracks below.

Busta Rhymes - Get Down (Meterhead Westside Remix) [YSI]

Meterhead - Poppa Large [YSI]

Meterhead - Space Rakim [YSI]

The album will contain 12 exclusive Database re-edits along with special guest appearances from The Twelves (YES!), Bo$$ in drama, Killer on the Dancefloor and many more. In the meantime here is Party People to whet your appetite.

The Phantom's Back

*I had to use a pic of Division Kent because I couldn't find another Phantom's Revenge pic. He truly is a man of mystery.

It’s been too long since my last Phantom's Revenge post, and too long means about 3 weeks. I was beginning missing his sweet house goodness. Check out his new Division Kent remix and his new original track, Absolute Ego Riot, below.

Mega "I Don't Have Class Today!!" Post

I was all set to start my Corporate Finance class today which was to run from 6pm to 10pm every Monday and Wednesday. I had already accepted the fact that I probably wasn't gonna be able to download new music or do a post this afternoon, or so I thought until I rushed to campus after work only to find the damn class is actually on Tuesday-Thursday. This isn't too bad though, I'm gonna treat this like an extra day and post tracks I should have posted over the long July 4th weekend. Since I'm posting 5 tracks, the description will be sparse.

The kings of Australia (Cut Copy) have bestowed upon the internets a remix of a track from one of the dukes of Australia (Midnight Juggernauts). I don't know how much sense that last sentence made since America was never a monarchy, but you really shouldn't need much convincing to download anything with Cut Copy's name attached to it.

Midnight Juggernauts - Dystopia (Cut Copy Remix) [YSI]

Hot electro-charged B-more track from Don Diasco.

Don Diasco - Charged [YSI]

New Bloc Party track Mercury. This is only a web rip but it's the best you'll be able to find for now. That's the new video above.

* Quality bumped to 192 thanks to PMA.

Bloc Party - Mercury [YSI]

I was already infatuated with the original Electric Feel remix by Justice and then here comes ddpesh with some Biggie and now I'm in love.

ddpesh - Nasty Feel (MGMT x Justice x Biggie Smalls) [YSI]

And finally SSDT favorite Top Billin' is giving away a free Summer Jamz pack so I thought I throw up an old favorite included in the pack. 320kbps so sweet!!

Top Billin' - Shake My Ass [YSI]

B-More of a Hipster Vol 2.0

I would like to start this post off with an apology about the 4-day post absence. As all the American readers know, this past weekend was 4th of July weekend. For all the non-American readers who aren’t familiar with July 4th, it is the time to celebrate American independence by getting drunk, grilling 3 cows worth of hamburger patties and blowing off appendages. So after getting my right forearm reattached, I’m back to post some more hot music and first up is the new B-More of a Hipster Vol 2.0 mix from DLake. Mixes aren’t something that I post too often but the minute I saw the tracklisting, cover art, and the hype/hilarious video, I knew this had to be posted. I love artists that make dope music while keeping a sense of humor about their work. Follow the link below to get the mixtape in single track form or each track separately.

Usher - Love In This Club (Morsy Remix)

Regular visitors to SSDT should already recognize the Nana Chill logo from all the flyers I post in the Houston Events section. Nana Chill, made up of Houston-based DJ Dayta and New York-based DJ Morsy, have been killing the dancefloors across the country for a few years now. For all you Houston peeps out there, you can see DJ Dayta in action tonight at the Backroom, and for everyone else I have this badass juke remix of Usher's Love In This Club. That's right, a juke remix, so try to keep up.

* It's Thursday night, so of course I have been drinking, please excuse any grammatical errors. Thank you.

Database in da House

The Brazilian duo Database is back with a new remix today that’s making me wonder why I waited til now to post some of their tracks. Their latest righteous offering to the internets is a remix of the Scenario Rock track Both Gotta Move On.

Scenario Rock - Both Gotta Move On (Database Remix) [YSI]

I’m also posting the first Database remix I heard, the Jo Mistinguett track Personal Fuck. This track had me at "fuck"; I can never get enough expletives in my electro.

Jo Mistinguett - Personal Fuck (Database Remix) [YSI]

And to end the post I have a Database original track Dance Like 007. The chick singing her heart out, the saxophones, the Caribbean drum beat, it’s all gold.

* On a side note, I am aware that with the addition of the new party flyers in the Houston Events section this blog now resembles a porn site. While I apologize to all the kiddos that visit my site, I welcome all you flaccid pervs that somehow got misdirected here. Hopefully this will increase my daily hits.

Yo Gabba Gabba - Party In My Tummy

I was gonna include the new Jerk It remix by Jokers of the New Scene but I lost motivation halfway through the post. If you really want it you can find it here, here, and here.

Okay, on the the real treat this evening, Yo Gabba Gabba. Just based off the one video below, Yo Gabba Gabba has earned a recording time slot in my DVR. Why the hell didn't Barney have dope beats like the one for the song Party In My Tummy? Plus have you ever seen anything more excited about it's own impending death? The green beans and carrots actually weep because they are left out of the wood chipper-like jaws of Brobee. Yo, Green Beans and Carrots, you didn't know how lucky you were, that's not a pool party dudes, that's gastric acid. At least they got to party with their bros Chicken, Cheese and Juice one last time.

I'm also including the inevitable bmore remix from Ursula 1000.
