New Remixes from The Disco Villains

It's 2 am in Houston right now, but I'm not gonna let the fact that I've been drinking stop me from posting these dope tracks I received from the The Disco Villains tonight. It's funny because the original House of Jealous Lovers just killed it at Boondocks one hour ago and now the internet has this even more dance-ready track to make everyone juke til they drop.

The Rapture - House of Jealous Lovers (The Disco Villains Remix) [YSI]

Also, be sure to download their remix of Renegade Master below. I was initially reluctant to open the email from the Disco Villains because one of the members has the same name as my landlord. Hey Luis, if this is you, since I'm posting your tracks you better go down on rent.

Friday Mix Up 5

First up we have the Computer Fairyland Mixtape from Little Boots. I, along with the rest of the blogosphere, received the email on Wednesday, so I'm pretty sure yall already have the mixtape. What you don't have is Little Boots' American release debut, the Arecibo EP. Arecibo drops mid-Novemeber through IAMSOUND Records in vinyl and through iTunes. Check the IAMSOUND website to get a specific date and make sure you purchase the EP to add to your Little Boots shrine you have undoubtedly begun building in your closet.

Computer Fairyland Mixtape

The Polish DJ collective known as Hungry Hungry Models sent me their interestingly titled mixtape, Chopin Was A Pussy Slayer, a couple days ago. I looked into this Chopin character and learned, among other things, that he was Polish, which explains why they chose this particular composer from the Romantic period, and I also learned that he died when he was 39. That's when I realized this mixtape is supposed to promote the practice of safe sex amongst us youngsters. See kids, you can't just go around "slayin pussy" because one of these days, that pussy is gonna burn you. Burn you to death. If it could happen to Chopin, it can happen to anyone. So download the album below and as you're pre-partying with your "pussy slayin" crew, remember to keep it safe tonight kiddos.

Tracklist:
1. Intro: Par-T-One - I'm So Crazy (3 Is A Crowd I'm So Lazy Remix)
2. Kraze - The Party

9. Mofo - On Rocks (Krazy Fiesta Remix)
10. Eric Prydz - Pjanoo (Alex Rage's Hype and Sweat Mix)

And lastly, we have the newest mix from one of my favorite electro duos IN THE WORLD, The Twelves. Any mix that has Heartbreaker in it is A-okay in my book. I just wish it was the Breakbot remix, then we would all be in electropop heaven. If you haven't heard the first "episode" from The Twelves, you can pick it up here.

The Twelves: Episode II

FIXTURE

Well once again I am going to post some more talent from my home town of Houston. FIXTURE (Brandon Gresham aka Luvlux) sent me a zip file a few days back with some sick tracks. If you live around or just happen to be in the Houston area go see him spin at The Backroom. This is a few of my favorite remixes he sent me.

M.I.A. - Bucky Done Gun (Fixture and Zoom Remix) [YSI]
Fred Falke - Last Wave (Fixture & Damon Allen Remix) [YSI]

He Say She Say - Crash Dummie

Someone call the Late Police. I clearly violated the law of staying up on new shit. After claiming to be a huge fan of Million $ Mano and the rest of the new artists flooding out of Chicago in the past two years, I totally missed the group He Say She Say. He Say She Say consists of the aforementioned DJ/producer Million $ Mano and songwriter/performer/singer Drea. They have already opened up for Lupe Fiasco and Kanye West so it's pretty safe to say that if the Late Police ever catch me, I'll be sent back to 1998, pre-blogs (the horror, THE HORROR).

Their agent who sent me the email dubbed them an "indie rock" group but I'd have to say it's more indie pop than indie rock. Imagine a Rihanna, or Gwen Stefani, or Nelly Furtado track produced by Million $ Mano. Good stuff huh. The email also said Pharrell is a "noteworthy fan", so you know. Actually, that last sentence could be the whole post.

Sample Post:

Pharrell is a noteworthy fan of He Say She Say. Download He Say She Say below.

He Say She Say - Crash Dummie [YSI]

*Bonus remix from BudhhAbuser I received hours after this post.

New Tracks from DJ Lapse

Yall will have to forgive me. I've been a bad blogger as of late only making one true post with new music in the last 5 days. But that's gonna change today, like Lil' Jon said "I got ya wit some new shit!!" all day long. As long as my boss cooperates with me by not giving me any work, I'm shooting for three posts today.

The first artist up today is the South African DJ/producer DJ Lapse. True blogtrollers will remember his name from the awesome Playdoe remix that was floating around the blogosphere a couple months ago. Now after recieving all that coverage from blogs across the internets, for some reason he decided to send lil' ol SSDT an exclusive listen to his newest original productions. Fans of his synths, hi hats and claps used in his Playdoe remix will like Work It Up, it's probably the best track of the four.

DJ Lapse - Work It Up [YSI]
DJ Lapse - Punks [YSI]
DJ Lapse - Visions Of [YSI]
DJ Lapse - Waxploitation [YSI]

T-Pain - Can't Believe It ft. Lil' Wayne

Best lines in the video:

"Fuego" - Fuego, burrito, "lapa dancea", and chichis are the only Spanish words that T-Pain knows. I applaud him for using this one in the correct context.

"Put you in a mansion, somewhere in Wiscansin" - For all you people out there not from the US, the proper way to say "Wiscansin" is Wisconsin. I can't fault T-Pain for not knowing how to correctly say Wisconsin though, there are literally zero Black people in that whole state.

"Really thank you need some ventilation"- Things that need ventilation: A computer, a Playstation 3, a room after it has been painted, a V-12 engine. Things that don't need ventilation: A person.

Scion Summer Tour - KLEVER, Fashen, The Knux - Tonight...FO FREE!!!

DJ Klever (Atlanta) - The world reknown DJ Klever
headlines this Scion tour. Having grown up with a hip hop background, his competitive nature and turntablism skills awarded him the 2000 national DMC champ at the International DMC competition. In addition to globetrotting DJ gigs, he's the resident DJ in Atlanta for the most off-the-wall party "Sloppy Seconds". Prepare yourself for some non-stop, high-energy electro krunk metal.

Fashen (Pheonix) - Fashen is the go-to DJ when you ask about Arizona DJs. He was the winner of Rockstar Energy Drink's "Next On The Decks" contest, placing him up in ranks with DJs like DJ AM and Steve Aoki. He was a main on-air DJ for over a decade on Power 98, opening opportunities for himself to perform with artist from P Diddy to Kanye West. Fashen is a true tastemaker with selections across all genres guaranteed to keep the party moving.

The Knux (L.A.) - Hailing out sunny California, post-Katrina transplants from New Orleans, The Knux (Rah Amillio & Krispy Kream), have been making noise on the blogsphere for their new-school rap attitude and hit "Cappuccino". Signing onto Interscope records in 2006, and cooking up Remind Me In 3 Days, they describe their new album along the likes of Outkast, Juvenile, Tha Pharcyde and The Strokes. The Knux performs live between DJ acts, and adding that intimate house party vibe.

Rock Box / SpeakerBoxx DJs (Houston) - Opening up are Houston's scene-setters Witnes, Squincy Jones & Dayta. The party-rockin' DJs held down Rock Box Thursdays for a few years with Spin Magazine
nodding that the weekly was, "the best time you'll have all month." SpeakerBoxx parties on in the same tradition-- need we say more?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That above piece of PR was obviously not written by me but I stand behind it 176%. The concert tonight is gonna be amazing and FREE. All you have to do is click the flyer above and RSVP. And since I'm in the posting mp3s business, not the PR business, here are some DJ Klever tracks and remixes. See yall there. Holla!

Thunderkatz - 3 AM (Klever's So So Death Remix) [YSI]

Hollywood Holt - Caked Up (Klever Remix) [YSI]

Steed Lord - Bucket of Blood ft. Krumi (Klever Remix) [YSI]

Pitbull - Crazy ft. Lil' Jon

I'm not even gonna say this new track from Pitbull and Lil' Jon made me "go crazy". That would be redundant and unimaginative. This new track from Pitbull and Lil' Jon made me actually do this post at 5:00pm on a Saturday. I could be out doing cool people stuff. Similar to Move Shake Drop, in which Pitbull spits over a Satisfaction sample, Lil' Jon takes a sample from Federico Franchis' dancefloor anthem, Cream, and makes it acceptable for the hip hop clubs.

Santogold - Creator (Chewy Chocolate Cookies Remix)

New remix from official "Masters of the Remix", Chewy Chocolate Cookies. Here is what they had to say about it:

100% DANCEFLOOR BOOOOOMB !!!!
this rmx will turn your sad house party
into the "foam party" at Amnesia in Ibiza : )

Ha! It's funny cause Chewy Chocolate Cookies said your house party was sad. You loser, you're a loser at throwing house parties and at life. Ha, ha, ha, ha!!!

Wait a second, they're talking to me too!!! Damn you CCC! Damn you and your consistently remarkable remixes!!!

The Definition of Bounce

I'm not sure how to classify The Definition of Bounce from DJ Will Roc. Two things pop into my head when I hear this song: first thing is bmore, but that's mostly because it's in the title of the song. The standard bmore drum loop is present but there are so many other sounds going on, unlike in other bmore songs that mostly consist of a drum loop and repeated vocal sample. Next thing that comes to mind is the Calvin Harris track I Created Disco. In the track Calvin Harris explains the process through which he created disco (by using a succession of techniques he developed during The War) in the middle of a instrumental. In The Definition of Bounce, Dallas Austin gives a similar explanation section at the beginning of a looping instrumental. So I guess what I'm saying is that The Definition of Bounce is the Black I Created Disco. Classification complete.

Hardcore Girls

After hooking up with big names producers like Diplo and Blaqstarr and then gaining a spot on M.I.A.'s first KALA promo tour through the US, 17yr old Baltimore native Rye Rye has taken the electro/dance music world over with her infectious flow. I mean, when you think of American chicks that flow over dance tracks two names come to mind: Kid Sister and Rye Rye. While Kid Sister definitely possesses a more polished sound, Rye Rye sounds down n' dirty in the best way possible. There is a reason her collab with Count & Sinden is called Hardcore Girls, there is no talk of beepers or nail salons here, just a healthy dose of boasts and bootycentric dance instructions for her loyal gyrating listeners.

And I haven't even mentioned the awesome production of Count & Sinden. The song sounds like a blend of killer tracks from Christmas Past. The track somehow manages to sound familar and new at the same time.

The Count & Sinden - Hardcore Girls ft. Rye Rye [YSI]

Interesting side note: I'm pretty sure Rye Rye had auto tune surgically implanted into her larynx. I saw her in concert and her voice is even higher in person. I swear, during her set about 250 dogs stormed into the venue. No, I don't know who let them out, Jamaican guy.

The next mix is from DJ Mattei Saint. If you're lucky enough to be in or around the Leicester/Midlands area you must go check out his weekly event, Mind The Gap, and say what's up in person. Mattei and another lad named Moro put on Mind The Gap each week so all the cool kids have a place to get down to "cutting edge underground dance music" and consume copious amounts of alcohol. You keep mixing it up like this and MTG won't be underground for long. Pick up the 8 of Spades mix below.

**********************************************************************

Our last mix is by DJ Weel, a reader who really takes care of my needs. After noticing my fondness of Breakbot and then empathisizing with the pain it caused me to have to remove Breakbot's latest remix from my blog, he thought, "You know what, I'm gonna make an all-Breakbot mix for SSDT. And I'm gonna do it cause I love them."

And then I was like, "Thanks dude, but don't you thing love is a strong word? How about like? Just say you like me a lot, that sounds better right?".

Then he was like,"I guess man, if you're gonna be all weird about it, I'll say like. But your posts really do give me a giant music boner."

So then I said, "I know dude, I get music boners when I find new music too. That's why I started this blog. It's a way of wacking off my music boner. I wack off my music boner each day and in the process, spread the love. Spread the love all over everyone's computer screens."

Then he was like,"That's fucking disgusting man, you totally over-extended that metaphor. Just take the mix and gtfo. GTFO!"

There you have it.* Lost a friend, but gained a mix. Enjoy.

Special Summer Breakbot Mix

*That's not how it happened at all. DJ Weel did the mix for NGOTB to accompany their interview with Breakbot. I simply have no actual work to do at work and this is the product of my idle time. Sorry.

Bloc Party - Mercury

With the official release of Cross the Dancefloor as a single last week, Treasure Finger's ode to two people taking up the whole damn dancefloor was the official "Song to Remix". The offical "Song to Remix" for this week? Without a doubt it's Mercury by Bloc Party. The single was released via the band's official website this week in various formats and it comes with remixes from Herve, Flosstradamus, and CSS. All three remixes are great and cover varying genres of dance music but the CSS remix wins out for me because of the stripped down sound. CSS brought the song back into the realm of rock by focusing on the guitar and drums, cutting most of the electronic elements of the original.

Bloc Party - Mercury (CSS Remix) [YSI]

But, as I said, all the remixes are badass so I'm including the Flosstradamus remix also. I think my Carl Cox-deifying friend would say it has a "deep house" feel and even though I usually try to ignore him, I think he would be partly correct in this case. He is correct except for the part where he idolizes Carl Cox.

DeLorean (OSR Back to the Future 4 Remix)

OldSchoolReunion just sent me a brand new remix they did for Chic and the Tramp and it is freaking AWESOME! I have been a fan of OSR for a while now and how can you not be, they seem to put out a new bangin azz track every two weeks. So you can look forward to many more OSR posts.

This very well could be the first post for this Remix, so remember you heard it here first (maybe) @ SSDT.

It's A Disco Party!

I told yall in an earlier post I would let everyone know when Database's UglyEdit Vol 1 album was released via their myspace page. Well, I'm a couple of days late, but here you go: Database's UglyEdit Vol. 1 album has been released via their myspace page.

Since I posted Database in the beginning of July, their tracks have been posted by bigger blogs like Bigstereo and The Fast Life and now more people are discovering the Brazilian duo, Database. People like disco/soul music, people like French house, so of course people will love the product of disco/soul and French house coming together. It's pure science.

UglyEdit Vol 1 is a mix of Database original productions, reedits, and remixes, plus tracks from their countrymen The Twelves, Bo$$ In Drama, Cello Zero of NRK and more. I've posted two songs from the album in previous posts so definitely go here and here to check them out. Some of my new favorites are below.

Database - ReaIce [YSI]
Midnight Martyn - Oh Right! [YSI]
Tears for Fears - Mad World (Cello Zero re-edit) [YSI]

I know this is supposed to be a Database post, but how great is Midnight Martyn. The Party People track he is featured on was a favorite of mine a month ago and then he makes Oh Right! for the UglyEdit album. It's 2008 and the dude is still killing the dancefloor with the disco. Bravo my friend.

Los Electricos

There are three primary reasons that I blog. The first reason is I love music and blogging gives me the opportunity to spread the love. The second reason is to flaunt my love of unsigned hype/the next big thing before everyone gets a chance to discover that they like said act. That might seem elitist or self-aggrandizing but I can guarantee the first person that posted Justice, fifteen blog years ago, still talks about that magical day he was "The First". He probably includes the link to the post in the signature of all his emails and credits his timely recommendation as the force behind Justice's massive success. The third reason, simply put, is hoes. You would not believe the amount of hoes having a blog brings. I mean, you would not believe it. You don't believe it huh?

I'm posting Los Electricos because of the first two reasons. Los Electricos hails from Brooklyn/Milan and his music will make you feel like you're driving a Ferrari, top-down, at night on South Beach, in a pastel 1980s Miami. The description is cliché but you get the point, this is 80s synth/new wave electro updated for the kids. Head over to his myspace and you'll see that half of Valerie Records is in his top friends list. DCR, the man behind the moniker, says he gets a lot of inspiration from the Valerie collective and you can hear it in his work. Pick up a few of my favorites from his Waiting To Be Dead EP below and remember where you got it from first, because I sure will.

Los Electricos - Fang [YSI]
Los Electricos - It's Always Nightime Somewhere [YSI]
Los Electricos - Schelectro [YSI]

D.J.C

D.J.C is from the U.K. and is producing some awesome beats. He sent me 3 of his tracks, and they are impressive. I don't know much about D.J.C. so I will just let his music speak for for it's self.

Great Summer Games Stuff

The Summer Olympic Games begin this Friday, 08/08/08 at 8 PM, and the rest of the world will be forced to begin rationing the numeral 8 (thanks China). For the men, you have women's gymnastics (you perv), women's beach volleyball (double YES!), and women's shot put (just kidding, those chicks are more manly than me). I don't know what Olympic competition women watch, I guess swimming, maybe Greco-Roman wrestling, archery, who knows. Anyway, Great Stuff Recordings has released a badass compilation of dance tracks in celebration of the Olympic Games. I'll let them take it from here.

"24 anthems by 24 amazing artists from 24 different countries to support their national teams at the Olympic summer games in the Chinese capital Beijing. This is the concept behind the second Great Stuff compilation (after the very successfull Great Carnival Stuff earlier this year) full of wonderful exclusive tracks. And of course the original Olympic idea (“not to win but to take part”) is inseparably linked to the respect of the human rights. Be it in the sports stadium or on the dancefloor."

I posted the tracks that represent Australia, Germany and Tibet. Download the tracks below and go pick up the full album here. From what the folks at Low Life Inc. tell me, if you listen to your countries' track backwards while watching any Olympic competition, your country is guaranteed to win*.

Makossa & Megablast - Tibet [YSI]
Swen Weber - Germany [YSI]
Tommy Trash - Australia [YSI]

I Visit The Forums So You Don't Have To

With all this hurricane-induced free time I thought I might troll around on a couple of forums.

Lowbee
Lowbee is always a solid forum to pick up anything from the newest pop-rap, actual old school electro, bmore, new electro, numerous remixes/re-edits, DJ mixes and everything else. The registered members are mostly DJs so the replies are usually informative and knowledgable. It's a great beginner forum, that's easy to navigate plus you'll usually find something good every other day.

Treasure Fingers' Cross The Dancefloor EP just dropped today over at Juno, so Flufftronix has posted his remix up on the forum. As a person who played out the original about 6 months ago, Flufftronix's rework of the song is refreshing. One commenter, fittingly named "nonsense", says he doesn't like the remix cause it doesn't keep any elements of the original. I have to disagree, the lyrics are still "shake it cross the dancefloor", it's not like they are singing in Spanish now. Plus that's kind of the point of a remix, switching stuff up to make it new.

Treasure Fingers - Cross The Dancefloor (Flufftronix Remix) [YSI]

Burntpiano has this to say about his cover of Kids by MGMT posted on lowbee.

"It was a slow day at work today, so I was messing around with some new synths, trying to find new sounds. I started playing everyone's favorite synthline, and one thing led to another, and I had a half finished track. I went home and finished it up. The track I guess really isn't a remix, but rather a cover, since I didn't use any elements from the original. And the vocals (which may piss some off) are from a computer. Not anything trying to replace the original or the upcoming soulwax remix, but just something fun."

Damn, I know I don't do shit at work but this dude takes the cake. All I do is read blogs and chat on aim, Burntpiano is over here creating tracks. Badass.

MGMT - Kids (Burntpiano Robo Remix) [YSI]

And to finish things off with lowbee and show you the variety of stuff posted on this forum, here are two funky remixes from Bobby LaBeat.

Archie Bell & The Drells - Tighten Up (Bobby LaBeat Rework) [YSI]
Public Enemy - Bring The Noise (Bobby LaBeat Remix) [YSI]

Erol Alkan Forum
The Erol Alkan Forum is a UK-based blog mostly populated by Englishman but you'll also see some French (the actual language). With almost 70% of the posts being new mixes from up-and-coming producers, the "post your music" section is not as fruitful or diverse as its low bee counterpart. However, Hostage, Loud Pipes, Night Facilities, Coin Operated Boy and many more have all posted heat on this board though, so don't count it out as a place to only get mixes.

SoundArea.org
Lastly, we come to SoundArea.org. This forum is HUGE, it's by far the largest forum in which I'm a member. There is no shortage of music here in the form of podcasts, mixes, full albums (in which I do not condone), singles, everything. They even send out an email weekly with about 15 links to their most downloaded tracks. Its crazy. The only problem is that 90% of the music is what I would consider euro-trash techno. You seriously have to wade through page after page of stuff like Donkey Rollers, DJ Tiesto, or Cascada to get to anything new, relevant and now. Don't mean to sound like a prick or anything but who listens to that stuff now?

Anywho, they do have a nice navigation bar that breaks the styles down to "House", "Hardstyles", "Trance", "90s", "Black". Wait, "Black"? Yeah, they actually title the section with rap and R&B, "Black". And America is supposed to be a country of racists.

And on top of all of that, to download a track, you have to to reply to the topic in which it was posted. It's a pain. I would recommend leaving this one for the real desperate music seekers like myself, you really don't have enough time for SoundArea. Here is the Laidback Luke remix of Madonna's 4 Minutes I picked up today.

While You Were Preparing For Impending Doom, Houston:

So Eduardo, the great maelstrom of 2008, is pounding the Texas as I type this which means only one thing. Well it actually can mean a lot of things, but the only one that pertains to this post is gratuitous school and business closings. Yes, I don't have to go to work today so I'm about to do some serious blogging today. I'm shooting for five posts.

I received an email from a Mr. Hansen yesterday that contained nothing more that an mp3, a track title and a myspace page link. The artist was Juxx and the song was titled Solo. The myspace page offered no further info on Juxx except that he is an anamorphic panda bear dressed up in an all black leather ensemble. On his myspace he is seen breaking out of some kind of scientific research compound. Great, just what we need, a race of super strong gay (NTTIAWWT) panda bears.

Looks like I forgot to tell you anything about the track. That was intentional, now you're just as lost as I was yesterday.

Seriously, stop by his myspace page and check out his second track, Kids, its pretty cool as well.

Erotic City Come Alive

I downloaded this new Computer Club reflip of the Prince classic, Erotic City, over at Missingtoof today. I really don't hear much of a difference between the Computer Club version and the original but I'm not complaining. When I first discovered Erotic City last year (don't ask me why it took so long), the original and the George Clinton version stayed on repeat on my mp3 player for about a month. Released on the B-side to the 1984 single Let's Go Crazy (people actually bought singles, ha!), Erotic City is a Prince track that should be enjoyed by everyone. I'm including the original version, the George Clinton version, and the song that is said to have inspired Prince to make Erotic City, White Horse by Laid Back.

KRRKRR

Fedor Sorokin A.K.A. KRRKRR was born in Russia, and is a 17 year old student in Paris. He is producing some sick azz tunes. He personally sent me some of his tracks. As you will soon find out this guy is making some radical electronica music.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot to tell ya to check out his website too.

Friday Mix Up 2

Dior Homme debuted their new Spring/Summer 2009 collection in June and the French, crime fighting superduo, Justice, was tapped to provide some sick tunes for the models to walk to. The whole mix is only 15 minutes long but it features a new track from Justice. I'm sure a rip of the new Justice track will be on kidzbycollete in a few days.

Jay Nasty posted his top 10 tracks of August a couple of days ago, he included some serious ish in the post, check it out here if you missed it. All the tracks aren't available to download on the post so Jay Nasty was nice enough to make this badass mix with all the tracks. From the man himself: "my favorite part is the transition from Street Ninja to Console, I love the way it drops in so HARD!! It is about 15 minutes into the mix." You heard the man, 15 minutes into the mix, pay attention cause we all know you love hard bangers (that sounded ghey).

I wasn't able to find out much about SamUel from his sparse myspace page other than he is from New Zealand. I didn't think I would ever say this, but he needs more flashing lights, bandwith hogging gifs and neon puke colored backgrounds. The way his mysapce page is set up now, it looks like a page made by a 52 year old man that only uses myspace to hit on young boys. Myspace page problems aside, his Dance Til Daylight mix I received last night is nice. He really crams in some fresh heat into this 11 song mix. Now that I think of it, the track selection is too nice. It's a mix you would make to hit on 18 year old electro-loving hipster chicks. Oh, I'm on to you SamUel, you sly dog.

You probably recognize the Spanish collective of DJs known as Buffet Libre from their Verbana and Verbana Selected mixtapes. The latter, in which bloggers or other artists select the tracks included on the mixtape, are my favorite. Well, as part of their 80s cover project, Rewind, they have released a new mixtape titled Buffetlibre DJs Rewinded. The mixtape has Madonna, New Order, A-Ha, and probably the most 80s song ever, Ghostbusters by Ray Parker Jr. Pick up Verbana Rewinded below. Look out for the covers of Come On Closer and Into The Groove by Moulinex and Sidechains respectively, they are dope.
